Free Photo Frame is a compact free utility that adds a framed image or slideshow to your desktop. The program comes with 25 frame designs for you to choose from and a clear settings window where you can select the image or folder to display and the way the slideshow will select the various photographs and display them to you.
The program can be opened directly with one of the 25 frame designs, prompting you to add your first photograph to the frame. Double-clicking on the empty frame will open the program’s small and easy-to-use settings window, where you can choose a different frame and select either a single photograph or a folder full of them. Even if you choose to add a folder of images, you can always set the slideshow to never change the picture selected until you decide to do so. Otherwise, the program offers you various times to set the display interval.
The frame can be set to be visible on top of any other window opened on your desktop, or to be minimized to the status bar when necessary.
Despite its limited functionality, this one-feature free tool performs its task exactly as expected. It would be desirable that the program would support more than just one image file format – though JPG is probably the most popular one, we all store images in various formats on our PCs.
